This annual international private health insurance policy is popular with customers who have pre-existing health conditions but need an annual healthcare plan to satisfy international visa requirements.

Any pre-existing conditions where you have experienced symptoms or been on a treatment pathway in the two years prior to becoming a policyholder will not be covered. If your condition was cardiac or cancer related in the five years prior to becoming a policyholder it will not be covered. This means you will have to self-fund any treatment privately or be able to access the local healthcare system where you will be living (if there is one).

Once you have been medical advice and treatment-free for two years (five years for heart or cancer) those conditions may become eligible for cover under the terms of your policy. If you do experience symptoms or seek advice and treatment for the condition then the two year / five year exclusion period will start over.

These policies are offered on an individual basis and you can purchase them online immediately.

If you do not have pre-existing health conditions and wish to have a joint or family policy then full medical underwriting is likely to be more cost-effective. You can apply for a fully underwritten policy on the HealthCare International website.
